The Art of Healing
Whenever we experience an event or a situation that we perceive as negative, the pain and suffering of that experience remain with us and continue to affect us for as long as we continue to see only its negative side. For every hurt, every betrayal, every rejection, every painful experience of any kind that we fail to see the benefits in, we continue to suffer, often long after the event is actually over. We hold on to all of these perceived negative experiences and events and as a result allow them to destroy us physically, emotionally and mentally. When we are unable to heal and release issues from our past, our physical bodies become prone to illness, injury and disease. We become emotionally imbalanced and are easily angered, irritated and upset. We become mentally fragile and regularly stressed, anxious and depressed. We diminish our capacity to experience the inner peace and joy for life that we seek.
The only way to truly let go of a past painful experience, no matter how hurtful, difficult or devastating, is to find its positive side and unconditionally love it. As long as you see an experience as bad or negative and wish it hadn’t happened, you will not be able to let go and heal. The reason for this is that every experience we go through in life is attempting to teach us to love what we have yet to love. When we fail to learn the lessons the experiences in our lives are trying to teach us, we become trapped by those experiences which cause us unnecessary pains.
All our life experiences, even the most challenging, difficult and painful ones, are designed to benefit us in some ways. They all carry within them a seed of possibility, a seed of potential for growth. All our life experiences contain hidden blessings that we can uncover if we so choose. We do actually have a choice. We can choose to learn and grow from our challenging life experiences and use them to improve ourselves and prosper or we can allow them to bind us and hold us back. These two alternate approaches provide enormously different outcomes. In the first case, we empower ourselves, we learn and grow and become the creator of our own destiny. In the second case, we disempower ourselves, create sufferings and become victim of our own misery.
When we take time to look more deeply into our life experiences and go beyond our superficial judgments, we become aware that there is meaning and purpose in everything that we have experienced. The beautiful thing is that both pleasurable and painful events come and go in our lives but the blessings and lessons that we gain from these experiences stay with us eternally.
